Alberta Glass awarded Curtainwall contract for the Centennial Centre for Disciplinary Sciences (CCIS) at the University of Alberta

Edmonton AB – June 17th, 2008

Alberta Glass has entered in a contractual arrangement with PCL Construction Management Inc. to supply and install custom curtainwalls for CCIS. University of Alberta - CCIS

The project was designed by FLAD in the US and ONPA in Edmonton and features high span, high performance Kawneer custom curtainwalls and takes advantage of the views across the river valley while providing exceptional energy efficiency and natural lighting.

"This project is a state-of-the-art facility on the historic quadrangle of the University of Alberta valued at approximately $300 million. It will bring together students, professors, and researchers from a variety of science departments to create a unique approach to scientific discovery. CCIS will be a signature building in terms of architecture, functionality, and sustainable design." (PCL Website)

"The procurement of this project is another significant step along the way to establishing Alberta Glass in the Edmonton and Northern region of the province," according to Paul Heyens President of Alberta Glass. "There are only a handful of contractors in North America who can engineer, fabricate and install a project of this size and scale and our staff along with our supplier network are looking forward to putting this project together."

Design and engineering work is underway and site work will begin late 2008 and conclude in late 2009.
